ALFA ROMEO 33 STRADALE – THE ITALIAN DREAM

An Italian supercar with more than 620 hp in thermal version or 750 hp.

Alfa Romeo is pleased to announce the rebirth of the “fuoriserie” 33 Stradale, a true “manifesto” of the Italian brand’s expertise – today and tomorrow – in terms of style and driving experience. Made in just 33 exclusive examples, using a unique artisanal process, the new “two-seater” coupé combines the heritage and future of the brand, a symbol of noble Italian sportiness.

For a dream to become reality, the essential ingredient is a good dose of courage and a pinch of healthy madness. It’s the same recipe as for the car considered by many to be one of the most beautiful of all time, the 33 Stradale, launched in 1967. Today, with the same boldness and vision, the Alfa Romeo team has designed and developed the new 33 Stradale, an authentic work of art in motion, the fruit of the perfect alliance between beauty and technology.

The brand’s aim is to offer the most exciting driving experience and the immortal charm of an icon to a very select circle of enthusiasts, who have believed in this project from the outset. The new 33 Stradale was created in the brand-new Alfa Romeo “Bottega”, where designers, engineers and brand historians first listened to potential buyers, then produced the car together, exactly as in the stores of Renaissance craftsmen or the workshops of the renowned Italian coachbuilders of the 1960s.

The highest expression of “necessary beauty” Produced by the Centro Stile Alfa Romeo, the new 33 Stradale takes its inspiration from the historic 1967 model, while enriching its sculptural beauty with design elements from the brand’s new stylistic language. The exterior features a perfect balance of proportions, volumes and surface treatment, becoming the highest expression of “necessary beauty” according to Alfa Romeo.

The front end has a powerful, muscular volume, featuring the iconic bumper and the complex shapes of the elliptical-based lights. The profile is dynamic and slender, with elytra-shaped doors and two large air intakes on the sides.

The body car is projected forward, with surfaces modelled according to the criteria typical of Alfa Romeo’s formal expression.

What’s more, thanks to the corner opening of the doors and the large, wrap-around sunroof, the driver can enjoy an exceptional view, very similar to that from the cockpit of an aircraft. The all-encompassing view afforded by the hood and door openings enhances the car’s aesthetic appeal.

The “brutal” rear end is balanced by a sinuous front end. As for the maximum height, it’s not at windshield level, as on any other sports car, but in the middle of the roof. The rear, in particular, expresses the car’s strength with its “coda tronca”, V-shaped design and round taillights. Aerodynamic efficiency is confirmed by a Cx of 0.375 at zero Cz (downlift) – the result of precise tuning, without the aid of active systems.

The interior is also distinguished by its minimalist design and materials, all conceived with the aim of maximizing the driving experience. The cockpit, in particular, has been designed to minimize distracting elements, as evidenced by the limited number of driving controls on the center console.

In front of the driver, a screen embedded in a 3D “cannocchiale” provides a unique form of interaction. The steering wheel, devoid of the usual controls, offers an experience of pure driving pleasure.

As in an aircraft cockpit, the controls are located at different levels, on the low center console and on a high console located on the center roof. The interior is available in two trim levels: “Tributo” and “Alfa Corse”. The aviation-inspired dashboard and central tunnel use materials such as aluminum, carbon fiber, leather and Alcantara. Wrap-around seats reinterpret those of the historic 33 Stradale, guaranteeing comfort and ergonomics. Every detail is designed to create an exclusive and attractive environment, while preserving the aesthetic and technical heritage of the 1967 33 Stradale.

A unique driving experience The Alfa Romeo team set itself the ambitious goal of offering a driving experience comparable to that of a racing car, but adapted to everyday use on the road, without compromising comfort and ease of use, even in everyday use. The new 33 Stradale therefore benefits from the very best of Alfa Romeo engineering, as evidenced by the double-link suspension with active dampers, the evolution of the 2.9 V6 engine.

The new 33 Stradale can be equipped with a twin-turbo V6 engine developing over 620 hp, or with a BEV configuration developing a total of over 750 hp.

Performance is exceptional in both versions. Top speed is 333 km/h, and the vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in less than three seconds. Double-link suspension with active shock absorbers and front axle lift ensure handling and comfort. The Alfa Romeo Brake-By-Wire braking system and Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes deliver top-level performance.

The aluminum H-frame and carbon-fiber monocoque guarantee rigidity and lightness. Again to ensure high levels of rigidity and safety, the roof structure has been designed in carbon fiber and aluminum, with hinged gullwing doors.  The window frames are also in carbon fiber, and the rear window in polycarbonate. The car’s set-up will benefit from the support of F1 driver Valtteri Bottas on the legendary Balocco circuit, allowing F1 experience to be integrated into everyday driving and guaranteeing Alfa Romeo’s inimitable handling.

DESIGN – THE MANIFESTO OF NECESSARY BEAUTY

  • The sensual, seductive lines make this “fuoriserie” unique, a combination of beauty and performance.
  • The exterior is characterized by a perfect balance of proportions, volumes and surface treatment, the embodiment of “necessary beauty” according to Alfa Romeo.
  • The front adopts Alfa Romeo’s characteristic sinuous roundness, with references to the distinctive “V” on the hood and the iconic scudetto.
  • The side design is sleek and dynamic, with side air intakes and elytra doors that improve accessibility and ergonomics, as well as offering a unique panoramic view for the driver.
  • The rear expresses the “brutal” essence of the 33 Stradale, with a V-shaped design and round taillights.
  • Aerodynamic efficiency is confirmed by an excellent Cx of 0.375, achieved without the aid of active aerodynamic devices.
  • The interior is available in two trim levels, “Tributo” and “Alfa Corse”, both featuring high-quality materials and a design inspired by the 1967 33 Stradale.
  • The sports steering wheel and “cannocchiale” instrumentation underline the desire to orient the steering towards the driver, with a precise, direct driving feel.
  • The dashboard and central tunnel feature aviation-inspired “mechanical” details, while the wrap-around seats and door panels help create an ambience that’s both exclusive and comfortable.

TECHNOLOGY – AN UNFORGETTABLE DRIVING EXPERIENCE

  • The new 33 Stradale benefits from the very best of Made in Alfa Romeo engineering, including double-link suspension with active dampers and the evolution of the V6 engine already found in the Italian brand’s top-performing cars.
  • It is equipped with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine developing over 620 hp, an 8-speed DCT gearbox, rear-wheel drive and an electronic limited-slip differential, or, in BEV configuration, with total power of over 750 hp, all-wheel drive and an estimated range of 450 km (WLTP).
  • Claimed top speed of 333 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds, braking from 100 km/h to 0 in less than 33 m.
  • Chassis with aluminum H-frame and carbon-fiber monocoque: the lightweight, rigid structure optimizes the car’s agility and handling.
  • Double-wishbone suspension with active shock absorbers, for exceptional roadholding and unrivalled comfort, and front axle lift to overcome obstacles on the road.
  • The development will benefit from the collaboration of F1 world champion Valtteri BOTTAS, to offer a driving experience similar to that of a circuit car, but adapted to everyday use on the road.
